Couples Therapy & Marriage Counseling

Zoe Rose Hicks I 15 Years as a Couples Therapist

Ester Perel trained me in couples therapy. When considering therapy couples feel isolated, demoralized, and/or like resent is creeping in. Do you feel like you and your partner are walking on eggshells? Does every conversation turn into a fight, leaving you feeling unheard and frustrated?

You're not alone. Many couples feel the strain of daily life, miscommunication, and old wounds that haven't healed. It can get to the point where even the little things set you off, and the love you once shared seems distant.

Maybe you’re replaying old patterns, seeing yourself act like a parent, not “over'' something you or your partner thinks you should be. Unfortunately in situations that affect one or both partners, time alone is very unlikely to heal a problem. You can’t just wait for “it” to go away.

Help For Couples That Are Experiencing

  • Communication Breakdown

  • Frequent Conflict, Often about “Nothing”

  • Damaged Trust

  • Emotional Disconnect

  • External Stress Impacting The Relationships

“The Best Time To Start Couples Therapy Is As Soon As You’re Thinking About It.”

We all carry emotional baggage from the past. Everything that’s happened to us shapes how we communicate and connect with our partners. There is no timeline for healing and “getting over it.” Maybe you saw your parents fight constantly, you experienced a painful breakup that still stings, or your current partner and you have experienced a rift that never fully healed.

In my practice I use the Gottman Method of couples therapy. It is backed by extensive research, making it a reliable approach with a high success rate.

Couples Therapy That Yields Results

My couples therapy is built to be a space to explore the deeper issues that are causing conflict.  We'll work together to understand:

  • What's really behind anger? Because it’s never really about “who’s supposed to take out the trash.” Often, anger is a mask for other emotions like fear, hurt, or frustration. By understanding the root cause, we can find healthier ways to express ourselves.

  • How your & their past is affecting today. Together, we'll gently unpack those old wounds and rewrite the narrative. You can finally break negative patterns that are holding you both back.

  • How to communicate effectively. Learning to truly listen to each other, address conflict constructively, and express your needs calmly can make a world of difference.
