Relationship questions, what is the relational world? What sustains us? We can take meds. We can meditate. We can exercise. Ultimately, what sustains us is relational, relationships. The problem is intimacy triggers the fear of abandonment. So, in the relational world, once things become more intimate, more real, our fears of abandonment shut the whole thing down. That is why the cycle is so difficult to break. The relationship questions that need to be answered are wrapped into our need for intimacy. Relationships foster intimacy, the intimacy shuts us down, the relationships shuts down and we are alone, again. That is where therapy comes in, group therapy, couples therapy, individual therapy, AA, NA, whatever gets you in a setting amongst people who admit they are broken too. The cracks let the light in.
