With medical marijuana, we are entering a new era in this country…
Here we are. Over half of the country has legalized marijuana for medical use and a strong majority of the country has legalized marijuana for recreational use. We are quietly approaching the end of the marijuana prohibition.
My uncle, a conservative accountant, eats a chocolate bar of marijuana every night for his Parkinsons. My dear friend a conservative broker in California, smokes to heal her depression. When I went to her house when visiting California, she was so happy, I asked her, “What medication are you taking?” “Oh no,” she replied “I am high.”
So, when is marijuana used in a moderate healthy way, e.g. like drinking a glass of wine a night. And when is marijuana use actually abuse?
Well, when you need to smoke every day a few times a day, you are likely addicted to marijuana, and not in the medicinal way. When you realize you have sincerely stagnated and haven’t really gotten off the couch since 1995 or moved forward in life’s stages, you may have a marijuana addiction. When your money for marijuana is more important than your child’s college fund, you have a marijuana addiction. Sorry.
But, as a form of relaxation, to smoke or drink marijuana every now and then… well
for many people, medicinal and recreational marijuana use truly increases their quality of life. For example my dear friend the one who smokes to treat her depression, her quality of life has greatly increased. She and her husband smoke together and really have great talks,- that improves the quality of their marriage. And for others, it is a great way to avoid opioid addiction or it is an ideal way, when used moderately, to alleviate anxiety or depression. The Web MD outlines some ways that medical marijuana is used today.
