Zoe Hicks began her work as a therapist way before the formal study. Her warmth and open nature had people telling her their problems on buses, in stores, at cafes. As a young journalist at an investigative reporting magazine, her sources began to go deeper than expected. Zoe felt honored by this and decided to utilize her gift so in her mid-twenties she began to formerly study psychology. Zoe has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature and Creative Writing from University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.
Zoe has worked at the renowned Del Amo hospital with patients suffering dual diagnosis, addiction and a mental illness. She has also been trained at the Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills. Zoe has run support groups for parents with children of mental illness, and has taught DBT to guardians and children ages 11-15. Zoe utilizes a patient centered, psychodynamic approach. Please refer to Irvin Yalom’s work to get a better idea of this approach. She also integrates tools, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Insight alone does not lead to change, and tools alone does not lead to change, but an integration of both is remarkable. Zoe practiced therapy in Bozeman Montana and practices therapy in Brooklyn Heights for the past 5 years. She believes it is both an honor and a joy to be a catalyst for her clients’ growth and looks forward to working with you.
